Connect Local promotes wellbeing through social connection.
When organised well, this helps to weave the web of relationships and support in our local communities that we can draw on to live our lives in the way that we want to, with meaning, purpose and connection, whatever our age or stage of life.
The Bolton Clarke Research Institute team has worked alongside local community members, social providers and health professionals, to design a program that works well for everyone. The aim is to build connections in the community, so everyone has opportunities to support others and be supported.
The program involves trained Community Connectors who will spend time with people to get to know them, discuss goals and link them to relevant local support services and social activities. We hope that this program will increase social connections for older people and have a positive impact on their overall health.
